Thanks for saying it. Our own European heritage is greatly affected by this as well.
I wonder how much genetic memory of bending to this enslavement paradigm is because many of those who held resistance were permanently removed from the gene pool.
I wonder if and how much my own ancestral memory (Métis) influences my resistance to psychopathic authority.
Your entire worldview is based on a lie. It’s ironic to hear someone talk about cognitive dissonance, mental gymnastics, and delusions, while spouting them off.
You talk of indoctrination but are clearly possessed by Rousseauian ideas of the “noble savage,” where man was perfected before civilization corrupted him.
You complain of colonial treatment of women decades or centuries ago but I guarantee you are unwilling to confront how indigenous women are treated by their own tribes today. The rates of sexual assault on reserves is three times as high as the general public. You give them the harmless title of “stewards,” while tossing every label you can think of at Europeans.
You’re unlikely to admit that many indigenous tribes looked at women as less valuable than cattle. That they’d raid neighbouring tribes and colonies, kidnap their women, and then force impregnate them.
You will likely fail to admit that indigenous tribes frequently participated in slavery prior to and during colonization. In fact, slaves made up 15-25% of some communities.
You will fail to admit that borders and groups are a natural occurrence across the natural world. That monkeys, elephants, wolves, dogs, dolphins, foxes, meerkats, etc all create territories and guess what happens when those territories are breached? Violence.
The difference between people like you and I: you create an imagined utopia of what the world SHOULD BE and then critique the world that IS in relation to your “delusions of grandeur.” Whereas I view human nature and history as it IS and then critique the world against itself.
Humans can be a vile species. I’m not above admitting that Europeans are capable of the same evils that all other humans are capable of. However, you want to place that evil as a fault of systems (again, Rosseauian) so that you can tell yourself that only if you were in charge or the world adopted your beliefs, that humanity would be cured. It’s incredibly narcissistic and self-serving. You are simply creating a world view that places you and your beliefs as the moral pinnacle.
This is horrifying and makes me cry 😢
