Thx Jonathan, you’re one of the few who sees thru the noise. Canada has been flying under the radar for decades assuming it’s business as usual forever. Our Laurentian oligarchy gas profited massively from this arrangement. But as the old script goes there’s a new sheriff in town and not ok with the old ways.

1- the Canadian ruling class needs to face its complicity in the international drug trade. Watching how they are dealing with the USAid files may be illustrative. They should be very worried.

2- Canadian banks have been mentioned numerous times by Trump. As with so many things what do people need to see and hear? Do not assume this is just shit talking. The Canadian banks all have large US franchises which may suddenly become unviable unless there is some kind if reciprocity agreement. As well there is the issue of money laundering which is connected to Canadas role in the international drug trade.

3- Canada has the 2nd largest land mass in the world, but has effectively disbanded its military. This means that Canada is actually under the protection of the Pentagon, a very uncomfortable truth for Canadians. Who pays for that? The US taxpayers. Canada is not financially capable of defending such a vast landmass.

4- Canada has one neighbor which happens to be the global hegemon today. The Canadian leftist ruling class, the Laurentian Elite, has never been able to accommodate itself to that reality. That mindset has hobbled and stunted our development for decades to the point where on a GDP per cap basis Canadas standard of living is equivalent to Alabama one of Americas poorer states. Canada needs to be a better partner and neighbor, stop claiming victimhood and look for ways to raise our standard of living.

Of what use is it to be under the "protection" of Class A war criminals?

But we are “war criminals” too, don’t you get it? Stop playing the little Canadian victim card. Not only that Canada is a narco-state. Why is Vancouver real estate the most expensive in the world? Not bc of the pretty scenery.😂

You failed to address the fact that the usa is the world's leading war criminal "nation"/gangster group.

Yes, canada has engaged in usa war crimes. Do try to focus - war crimes vs $$ for real estate????

Got it! So Canada is both a war criminal state, as well as a narco-state. Sounds like we’d be a good fit then😂

I recall the free trade agreement.

USA enterprises bought up all the natural resource companies. They later paid me to demo them. I never figured this out. Bad box or stupid management?

Most of the west coast sawmills where torn down and auctioned off to china.

I see the equipment I once made and installed in china with the same paint on it.

The Canadian dollar has been manipulated and kept down for decades because America would stop doing trade with oh Canada.

The Alberta tar sands project is primarily American interests running that resource.

Few mines are Canadian owned.

Big box flooded the country and put all the small mom and pop out of business.

Canada was demolished decades ago and been hanging by a thread.

All part of the grand plan.

The American economy is being demolitioned also. Consume and trash everything. What happened to those Detroit steel Mills?

Sure some American cars are made. I rarely see anything made in the USA now.

Even once American made tools are now Mexican or Brazilian.

Trump is scratching at a glass wall hoping he can climb it.

Your all fkt IMO.

Most people don't have $500 in their bank account in case of an emergency.

Canadians and Americans are all living check to check, hand to mouth.

No one knows how to work a hard day other than a farmer or the odd construction crew.

I got so fed up with production and safety protocols I left for the 3rd world were no one was coddled and men still worked hard.

Sure I don't make what I once did but the cost is considerable less. No mortgage, own my home and old 4x4 just pay power water and medicare. Less than $100 a month.

Hope you can handle poverty.

This crash is going to be historical.

This is a land grab I think. The lease is up and the true owners are going to put you all in the street.

Actually the biggest operators/owners in the oil sands are Canadian based companies,CNRL and Suncor Energy.

So, we don't have any leaders, so we get steamrolled. What an absolute tragedy for a country as rich as we are.

Excellent analysis. I suspect that if Canada is to survive our larger neighbour we'll need a subtle Finlandization policy--trade with others, speak kindly of our neighbour in public while building a massive defensive military that would be a nuissance if, heaven forbid, the neighbour tried to invade. That, or just become the 51st state.

Doug Fraud. The leaders are still playing in the sand box. Danielle Smith is a true grownup. She is setting the stage to make Canada proud. Turn off the legacy media. Get informed and get involved.

Any politician starting a trade war with the U.S. is looking to deliberately devastate the economy and cause widespread unemployment - I suppose so people beg for a globalists take-over. A trade war with the U.S. will lead to a 5-6% contraction in Canada’s GDP over 6 to 12 months. Inflation will rise and the multiplier effect could amplify this into a depression.

Canada is the proverbial 30 something gamer, living in his parents basement, rent free. Now the parents have had it and are calling him out. All of a sudden there's money for the border, and holy shit, a Fentanyl Czar. Go figure.

Trump's tough love is forcing the Regime to grow up. Granted, nothing really has been accomplished yet but we have a whole month. Whew!!

All the Trump deranged, 'Merica haters must boycott the Super Bowl and all its commercials, just like you were ready to boycott your JD and OJ for breakfast. Teach them protectionists a lesson.

I'll be watching, and cheering for Philly! Home of the Liberty Bell.

Asleep at the wheel well describes the backwater of Canada these days. Have you ever heard Poilivre talk about his vision of Canada's role in the world, apart from his slavish devotion to Israel and his hatred of Iran.
